The SDTA Basic Academy includes all core courses required to become a security officer to include advanced training and additional course programs. The Basic Academy includes the following:
- Module A-D Training
- Baton Instruction & Certification
- Tear Gas Instruction & Certification
- Exposed Firearm Qualification
- Range Fees
- First Aid and CPR/AED
- TASER X26 or TASER X2 certification
- Lunch/Dinner (depending on time of classes)
- All Training Materials and Equipment
- State & Federal background fees
- Live Scan Fingerprinting Fees
- Licensing Fees
- Firearm Ammunition (.40 caliber only)
- Firearm Rental (our firearms only)
Completion of this academy exceeds the requirements and certification of the Skills Training Course for Security Guards as required by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Security & Investigative Services (BSIS). All paperwork, fingerprinting, background fees, and all certifications are processed at our facility. You only need to send the licensing fee to the State which we will help you with.
Students must provide ammunition (other than .40 cal) which is also available at range. This package is highly recommended for new students looking for employment.
LODGING
There are several high quality hotels/motels within several blocks of our facility for those traveling long distances. Students flying in from out of state or from long distances can be picked up from John Wayne Airport which is less than a 10 minute drive from our facility.
Prerequisites: No felony convictions, cannot be prohibited from possessing a firearm, US Citizen/Legal Resident
